Hey everyone!
I’ve been intensely working on my coloring book Lines lately (officially announced in my last newsletter), so today I’d like to give you a quick look into the process.
Making this book demonstrates in a perfect way what path you choose as a freelance creative: doing six jobs at once! 😅 I enjoy doing it all from technical production over writing to marketing, as long as making art as my core profession doesn’t fall behind too much.
Kickstarter
I’m going to publish Lines on Kickstarter, to crowdfund the first batch of printed books. My current goal is to set the Kickstarter page live around a month from now (last week of September). You can already set up a notification for when the campaign starts:
I can also already give you a little preview about the versions of Lines you will be able to get on Kickstarter. (These are subject to change right now, depending on my final calculation and what’s financially possible)
Digital Edition: Digital copy of Lines as a PDF file and download of single image files of the artworks
Standard Edition: Physical copy as a practical wire-bind, printed on quality high grammage paper
Collector’s Edition: Premium hardcover version, signed and numbered, coming with a couple extras
WIP of the Collector’s Edition Hardcover
Coloring Tutorials
The book will also include three tutorials that guide readers through my personal way of coloring. I’ve finished writing the first one, which serves as a kind of theoretical base.
I take a look at Hue, Saturation and Brighness as the key terms to describe how to approach setting up strong color palettes. I also introduce the Color Wheel, and explain the difference between RGB & CMYK, and which mode to use for working in art software.
You can already read the article on my Patreon, before it’s going to be published inside Lines.
Coming Soon: Bottle Dioramas Digital Collectibles
I’m currently working out the details of my next NFT drop. I decided to turn my Bottle Dioramas into a project, as the feedback for these has been overwhelmingly positive. The drop will have an interesting twist and I can’t wait to reveal more details. You’ll hear it here first 😉
That’s all for today! I’ll keep on working on my book pages now, and will of course keep you updated on Patreon, socials and here! Enjoy your weekends! 🙌 Thanks for reading!
