Hey friends,
If you've been following my work lately, you already know that I'm working on a custom playing card deck. This project has been keeping me company for over a year now (I first announced it back on June 3, 2024!).
I documented the process from day one, sitting there with a blank canvas and the urge to make a card deck. Now I found some time to turn that journey into a YouTube series that takes you behind the scenes of how I’m approaching the whole thing: the planning, the concept work, the mistakes I’m trying to avoid before they happen.
The first episode is about the very beginning: how I try to lay the foundation for a pretty huge creative project like this, and why asking the right questions early on can save you from a lot of frustration later. Something that actually applies to client work as well - in this case, I’m just my own client 😄
I really hope this inspires some of you to finally start that big idea that’s been living in your head for too long. It would be cool to hear about those ideas, so feel free to share in the comments if you want some feedback!
Next up in the series: I’ll get into setting up files in Procreate, matching my ideas to the card canvas, and finally into the actual drawing! 😉
If you’re into cards, please don’t hesitate to comment your feedback here or under the video. I’ve already gotten some great input from card enthusiasts and it’s always much appreciated.
Cheers
Stefan

Been following along with this in piecemeal fashion via Drip.haus for a long time! While not specifically a "card enthusiast", I'm wondering if you'll offer uncut sheets at some point. They make a great way to showcase the collective works as a whole!
