Hey dear readers,
a couple days ago, I’ve returned from tabling my very first convention! I always wanted to try it, I never did. Just how things go sometimes.
There’s lots of cons in Germany, but I drove 850 kilometers south to Lausanne, Switzerland, to attend Japan Impact. Why? Well, they commissioned me to create their 2025 official poster illustration, and the table was included in the deal. So I couldn’t say no any more 😉 And wow, I just loved it!

The table went really great! First, for monetary reasons (pretty obvious success factor). I sold more than I expected, especially lots of small prints, postcards and stickers, but also some leftover coloring books.
Something that came on top as a big unexpected factor though was the face-to-face confirmation for my craft and my artistic vision! The amount of people telling me how they loved my work! Regardless of them buying something - but if they did, it was so motivating to know that people spend their hard earned money on my art. Especially after often only knowing it from browsing my table for a couple minutes.
You may find this not very surprising. But as an artist who mostly shares his art on the net, I was really nervous to go out in the wild with my work. And after years of battling for every like and comment and share on social media, this just felt good!
Now I need some con recommendations, so please share your favorites with me. I need to do this more often! 😄 Also if you’re interested in some learnings I made, I may do another article about that.
Speaking of first times..
My work for Mirrored Dreams is my first comic ever - apart from some not so glorious efforts from my youth. I’ve recorded my process while working on it, and put it all in a brand new video. I explain how I approach to an art form that is new to me and that I always found to hard to even try:
New prints just arrived!
The Collector’s Edition of Mirrored Dreams includes two signed & limited Risography prints by Dominik and me. We already ordered the prints, they came in yesterday, and they look amazing!

There’s 26/60 editions of the posters sold so far. If you’d like to get them, head over to our campaign and save a Collector’s Edition box that comes along a pile of extras and goodies!
That’s it for today - I’m going to take a break now to play Kingdom Come. Still busy with the first part, and I’m a big fan! Should I do some medieval art maybe?
Enjoy your weekend & Cheers!
Stefan
Congrats on the your first con and sales, Stefan. I only know them from the States where they're hugely popular.
You've written that you were interested in writing more about your learnings from the convention--I'd love to read them in a future post.
And good luck with your crowdfunding campaign of mirrored dreams--I'm glad I supported it. Can't wait to receive my print version (no time pressure though--take the time you need)
It’s really refreshing and inspiring to see peers in the trenches doing the work. Thanks for posting and I’m looking forward to the next chapter of your journey. 🤙🏽🤙🏽
